Description:
In this Citrix XenServer 5.0 Enterprise Edition training course, students will be prepared to deploy and manage XenServer Enterprise Edition 5.0 and XenCenter. Through hands-on labs, students will gain hands-on experience in: Installing and configuring a virtualization server and connecting to the server with XenCenter Creating a mix of Windows and Linux virtual machines and managing virtual machine life-cycle operations Creating a XenServer resource pool and connecting to remote storage The exercises in this course will allow students to explore advanced XenServer capabilities such as XenMotion and automatic virtual machine placement. For training on Citrix XenServer 5.5, it is recommended that students take CEX-100-1W - Introducing Citrix Essentials for XenServer 5.5 in conjunction with this course. For a limited time, CEX-100-1W is available at no cost from Citrix!

Preparatory Recommendations

  • Prior to taking this course, Citrix recommends that learners possess the following knowledge and experience:
  • A basic knowledge of the purpose and goals of virtualization technology
  • An understanding of computing architecture, including network and storage devices, device drivers and operating systems • Basic experience installing and administering Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008
  • Basic experience installing and administering Linux variants
  • Intermediate knowledge of network devices and site architecture, including configuring vLANs
  • Basic knowledge of storage terminology and technologies, including partitions, SANs, LUNs, iSCSI, and NFS and CIFS file shares
