The California Division of the American Cancer Society is financed by voluntary contributions. Our mission is to control cancer, to minimize its burden on people through innovative organized volunteer action by funding research; sponsoring and supporting educational and advocacy programs to prevent, detect, treat, and cure cancer, and, providing services to cancer patients and their families.

Since 1946, the Society has spent over $2 billion on cancer research nation-wide. In Santa Cruz County, the Society has helped fund cancer research programs at UC Santa Cruz.

Over 500 cancer patients in santa Cruz County received services last year, which included: transportation to cancer treatment, use of medical equipment, homecare, information, and support in helping people cope with cancer.
