How Remotely Hosting a Web Site can Cause Errors
InfoPoint likes to keep the Web sites inside its own network and
it does not like to have customers work on the site directly.
- InfoPoint gets hired to do a Web site that is hosted somewhere else.
InfoPoint creates the site at InfoPoint, then uploads the Web site to the
server.
-
The the customer sees the new site, gets some ideas and asks
InfoPoint to make some modifications to the site.
-
InfoPoint downloads the site (or works from it's local copy) and
makes the changes.
-
The user wants to make a few other minor modifications, reword
a few sentences and so on, so he or she downloads the site as well.
-
When the user upload the changes, it overwrites the changes that
InfoPoint made (or the other way around).
When this happens it is confusing and frustrating.
Much more time
is lost than just the time it takes to redo the work.
It can cause misunderstandings, loss of trust and other very serious
problems.
