The Los Altos Story
"I'd like to tell you a story. The topic is AIDS. I know, you're probably thinking--AIDS has nothing to do with me. Well, that's what I used to think."--Dushan Angius, Past President Rotary Club Los Altos
The Los Altos Story is a sensitive film that tells the dramatic story of how AIDS changed the lives of three Rotarians - Dushan "Dude" Angius, Walter Singer and Greg Betts. A documentary about real people, places and events, The Los Altos Story was produced by The Los Altos Rotary Club in association with Greg Hoblit, a producer and eight time Emmy Award winner (LA Law, Hill Street Blues). The film was written and directed by former NBC News correspondent and five time Emmy Award winner Robin Young.
A Rotary Scholar, describes the program as it "successfully promotes sharing and tolerance and clearly defines the Rotary organization, not as a group of businessmen, but rather, as a network of caring people who are indeed working towards goodwill and understanding, no matter how hard that process may be."
Another response to the program is as follows:
"Thank you for your courage in making the film "The Los Altos Story." It gives me some hope that my family won't let me die alone. I need that hope." -- Unsigned
It is available in the following languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.
