Our Enterprises: Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

CSA is an innovative marketing model that brings the consumer into a direct relationship with the grower. Our CSA Program operates by selling "shares" of our Garden's production to members of the community. By purchasing a season's "share" in the Homeless Garden Project's CSA Program, "shareholders" make a pledge to the Garden that they will support us throughout our growing season by paying in advance for their share of the harvest. Purchasing a share allows us to carry out our Working in the Garden mission: providing job, training, education and options to people who are homeless and in transition. The shareholder's commitment allows us to grow with confidence, knowing that our crops have been purchased by someone who cares about the health of the community: YOU! The money from your purchase goes to paying wages for our workers, seeds, farm supplies and helps to cover the operating costs of the Garden. The revenue from CSA sales increases the Garden Project's financial security. Your full payment up front helps to get the garden started.

What is a Share?

A Share is a portion of the Garden's harvest. This season we are offering 25 shares. Each week's harvest will be divided into equal proportions amongst shareholders. We estimate that a full share feeds two to four people per week, depending upon their dietary habits. Shares are certified organic fresh produce and flowers harvested by our crew, the very same day that the shares are picked up at the Garden. Shares are made up of crops that thrive in our Garden's climate throughout our growing season. At times we will feature certain crops because it is their turn at "center stage". We will always have a wide variety of produce in each weekly share. In addition to the vegetable crops, we offer the opportunity to select your own herbs from our extensive culinary herb garden. Don't forget the flowers! Every week we offer a beautiful flower bouquet made from the lovely blooms of our gardens.
